Sustainability is a very important issue for us and we believe that we can contribute to a better environment with our Cedar Wood products.

Western Red Cedar comes from forests in British Columbia (BC)in Canada which are being regenerated, the fauna in these forests is protected and biodiversity is maintained.
95% of the land owned by the BC government and BC laws apply strict rules that constitute a balance between environmental, recreational and economic interests for the conservation of forests in the long term.
BC government has strict laws and demands for companies that wish to be certified for which for forest logging.
The Canadian government controls the logging of Red Cedar by a tough and strict policy:
- Logging companies are required to develop plans in which they describe their strategies and to what results this will lead. This is governed by the "Forrest and Ranges Practices Act"
- BC forces companies to protect the forest and use and develop resources in ways the ecological and cultural values are maintained. See Harvesting Techniques
- There are strict quotas on the amount of harvested timber. These quotas are always based on the situation at that time.
- Reforestation with similar local species is required in accordance with provincial laws.
- There is an independent Forest Practices Board, which acts as a kind of ombudsmanas and represents the public opinion if the government itself fails to take the proper action.
- Trained experts (foresters, engineers, biologists and geologists) check that the self-imposed high standards of BC are actually being achieved.
- There is much knowledge and expertise in BC so that such new techniques and knowledge in forest management can be developed.
- The latest science is applied so that the forest can flourish in the best possible way. Companies were previously encouraged to clean up left over wood after harvesting. Research of forest professionals have shown that it is better to leave dirt like trunks, branches and fallen trees better on the forest floor after harvesing. This is absolutely crucial for the management of biodiversity. They provide an important habitat for plants, animals and insects and a source of nutrients for soil development.

How BC achieves this?
- There is a very high level of compliance.
- There is a high level of third-party certification.
