Western Red Cedar, the official tree of British Columbia in Canada. The Western Red Cedar tree is called the pillar of the culture of original inhabitants of the Northwest coast or "tree of life". These trees were fundamental to the existence of the first residents of the Northwest. They used the trees for medicine, canoes, totem poles, longhouses, paddles, weapons, religious masks, cooking utensils etc. Western Red Cedar grows mainly in the Northwest coast in America and Canada. |
